During law school, Makenzie was the winner of the "Legal Research and Writing Best Appellate Oralist," a founding member of the Family Law Society, and a member of the Women Law Student Association. She earned the Pro Bono Silver Medallion through her time volunteering at the Benton County Help Desk. Makenzie has a background in sports, having earned her Undergraduate Degree in Sport Industry and externed with the University Athletic Department during her law school career.

Makenzie is a certified Attorney ad Litem. Her case experience includes divorce, child custody disputes, prenuptial agreements, guardianships, bankruptcy, criminal misdemeanor, and is expanding every day
